General facts about infertility
1: Inability to conceive after 1year of regular unprotected intercourse is called as infertility
2: Both male and females are almost equally responsible for infertility. Roughly 1/3rd of cases are because of female factors,1/3rd are because of malefactors and in rest 1/3rd of cases both partners are equally responsible.
3: When to see/consult the doctor
Women should consult if:-
A) Age is 35 or more and unable to get pregnant after 6months of regular trial.
B) Age 40years or more.
C) Menstrual disturbances like irregular periods, painful menstruations.
D) History of surgery on uterus/fallopian tubes or ovaries in the past.
E) Already diagnosed case of endometriosis or pelvic inflammatory disease.
F) History of multiple miscarriages.
G) History of treatment for cancer.
H) Sexual dysfunction like painful coitus
Men:
A) Sexual dysfunction like erectile dysfunction, premature or failed ejaculations.
B) History of surgery or swelling in testis or scrotum
C) History of treatment for cancer in the past
D) Already known case of low sperm count or other problems with semen.
E) Family history of infertility.
